City Winery - Fortitude Valley

The team at City Winery are beyond reproach - courteous, and highly professional - they are used to handling all the hurdles a wedding day can throw at them. AND the food is amazing to boot.
City Winery in Fortitude Valley is a hip, quirky and fun venue for any wedding day. From spending some time in their courtyard, to their three indoor rooms that all lead into each other. This venue is perfect for large weddings up to 150 people and most importantly - kick-arse dance floor.
You can choose between two different packages - either booking out the full venue giving you access to all three of the venues’ spaces and fitting between 80 -150 guests.
Or if you’re after a more intimate affair, you can choose their private cellar which will fit between 22 and 35 guests.
But, you ask, what should I know when planning?
Flash photography will be useful - if not essential.
The main point that I think couples should expect as they walk around the amazing space at City Winery is that flash is going to be important at this location. While less important in the main room, the cellar room can get a little dark for cameras, and as such I recommend that photographers use either of on camera or off-camera flash - particularly heading into the evening.
Therefore, if you aren’t a fan of flash photography, I’d recommend sticking to a daytime wedding to avoid the greater need for flash in the evening.
The main room featured above is the ceremony location, and the reception room.
All this really means is that you’ll have your ceremony in the main room, and then after saying “I do” and making it official (and your group photos!) you and your guests will move into the Cellar rooms for Canapes while the venue organizers work their magic and reset the room with the tables, chairs and place setting - with everything exactly how you imaged.

Transport is always worth considering.
The City Winery is also in the perfect location for catching buses and cabs to the venue - and it’s only a 15 minute walk from the Fortitude Valley train station. The walk might not suit Grandma, but for many guests this makes for a cheap, accessible option for stumbling home at 11pm.
